General manager

Overview

Location: North Leeds Venue

Hours: 44 per week, including evenings and weekends

Reporting to: Operations Team

Salary: £32,000- £35,000 dependent on experience


We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic General Manager to join our management team here at North Bar in North Leeds. This is an amazing opportunity for an experienced General Manager who loves providing quality products and service in an inclusive and welcoming environment. With table service as a cornerstone of our success, we need someone driven to deliver excellence, inspire their team, and embody our values of being Hungry, Humble, and Smart. You need to be a well organised, driven, creative individual with strong communication and leadership qualities and a natural ability to get the best out of a team and sell great drinks!

Who we're looking for

Your day to day duties will vary, with various amounts of ‘firefighting’, this list is inclusive of but not limited to:

  

  • Oversee Venue Operations: Take full responsibility for all aspects of the venue’s operations, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional table service.
  • Lead and Inspire Your Team: Recruit, train, and motivate staff to deliver top-tier hospitality in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Deliver Exceptional Guest Experiences: Ensure the highest standards of customer service, engaging with guests and building strong community connections.
  • Drive Business Success: Plan strategically to meet and exceed revenue targets, identify growth opportunities, and lead promotional campaigns for new products, events, and services.
  • Maintain Standards: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing requirements while keeping the venue in excellent condition.
  • Foster Innovation: Identify and implement ideas to improve and develop services, creating a vibrant and unique guest experience.
  • Manage Resources Effectively: Oversee stock management, perform regular stock checks, place orders, and handle deliveries.
  • Engage with Technology: Maintain social media streams, respond to customer enquiries in all formats, and manage administrative tasks.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALITIES:  

  • Proven experience in hospitality management, with a strong focus on guest service and table service.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organised with strong time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership and motivation skills to inspire and develop your team.
  • Sociable, approachable, and naturally attentive to guests’ needs.
  • Broad knowledge of beer and a desire to learn and share knowledge.
  • Computer literacy, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience in sales and social media marketing.


DESIRABLE SKILLS & QUALITIES:

  • Personal license holder.
  • Broad knowledge of spirits and wine.
  • Experience with barista skills.
  • Understanding of GP, management accounts, and stock processes.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and food hygiene certification.
  • Basic working knowledge of WordPress.
  • Working knowledge of Rotaready & CPL systems.
  • Clean UK driving license.
