‘Species Of A Continuous Form Of Lucid Being’ is a shared non conscious delusion.

Its infinite and it is illusive. It will end and it is draped in lucidity.

It is dictated by nothing and inspired by everything.

Some wish to achieve it, some will never realise it.

Some can comprehend it, some will summon horns to pull them from it.

a.k.a An excuse to drag the projections of some demented imagination of mine and expose them onto paper.

Jordan’s exhibition runs until the 6th of June.

Zombie Day & Record Store Day 20.4.13

Our last cocktail day was a complete success so we’re doing it again, this time with the madness that is the Zombie!! Tiki-based fun in association with Wray and Nephew, we’ll be bringing you some bonkers variations on the classic super fruity, super boozy cocktail.

Alongside that don’t forget that the 20th is record store day so alongside rocking up to your favourite independent record store (and rejoicing that there are no more corporate record stores in Leeds at all any more!!) come and have a pint of the official beer brewed by Revolutions brewery and compare finds!!

We love all types of beer and the NB beer list is a constant work in progress, it’s not about willy waving and who’s got the newest or most exclusive beer, it’s about offering the most interesting and exciting selection possible. Gone are the days when we offer the most beers (a title we held for at least 10 years) now it’s all about the quality of the list. So alongside all the big fancy bells and whistles brews don’t forget those cracking session beers and don’t forget that to really know and apreciate a beer it’s worth having more than one in a session!

On the 7th of April we’ll be celebrating beers below 4.5% with a cracking draught selection from some of ours and your favourite breweries. Pop in for a Sunday with tasty treats, the papers and a pint or eight!

If you’re on the ball you may just catch a measure of what we believe is the first ever barrel aged beer cocktail in the world!! We aged Wasmunds rye spirit in a fresh oak barrel for three months, then we removed the spirit and stuck in a brand new cocktail that’s sucked up all those oaky, boozy rye whisky flavours. The resulting cocktail Black Noise is served on a bed of rye malt to munch alongside and we strongly recommend a shot of our in house aged rye whisky to chase it down with – it’s incredibly limited so stay tuned to twitter and FB for updates.

March Exhibition – Flyposting

Psychedelic doodlings, typographic exuberances, burlesque dancers, assassinated arch dukes, dadaistic inventions and everything in between, FLYPOSTING #2 is most probably the biggest exhibition of contemporary Gig Posters this side of the Pennines.

With well over 100 posters of bands ranging from Franz Ferdinand to First Aid Kit, and featuring the hand-printed designs of more than 25 international artists who alphabetically range from Army of Cats to We Three Club, the show promises something a bit special to brighten up the metaphorical bedsit walls of everybody’s pre-spring gloom.

Organised and curated by THE Gallery at Flannels, and in it’s second year, the exhibition takes place in a whole host of venues across Leeds* including, none other than North Bar itself.

Our mouths are watering already at the thought of our Buxton beer dinner, which we’ll be serving up on 17 April at The Cross Keys pub. The five-course tasting menu of gastronomic delights will be expertly paired with some of Buxton’s finest brews, including their sumptuous Imperial Black, Berlinerweisse-style Special Reserve Der Nord Sekt and brand new APA, Jaw Gate.

Ahhh Cumbria! All hills and lakes and furry animals and beer… Yessah! For one night only on the 27th of February we’ll be bringing you a full raft of Cumbrian beer for your delectation, not just that though, we’ll be giving you some delicious Cumbrian gastromic delights and filling the bar full of furry friends to while the night away with… Plear wear appropriate attire ie. dress as something ‘of nature’ or perhaps a hiker… PRIZE FOR THE BEST DRESSED FURRY ANIMAL OR HIKER!

NYE Super silly hip hop party!

We are of course open on NYE, the usual sillyness will be adorned with a hip hop theme! ACE DJ’s all night long and some really super special beer too. You know when we say super special we mean SUPER SPECIAL!! Some pretty damn exclusive draught beer plus a couple of classics to make your night go with a bang.

Tickets are £5 in advance and you get a pint of any of our collaborative house beers or a glass of Liefmans Kriek or honey spiced cider!! Alternatively you can go for a £25 ticket which includes a full flight of all 16 beers available on the night in 1/3 pint measures! Hit us up to reserve places or swing by the bar. A limited amount of tickets will be available on the door as always…

Dress as your favourite hip hop legend and you could win a big bottle of beer if you’re the best!! Also if you’re that guy who was doing ‘the snake’ in here the other week you really should rock up dude…

On the 16th of December from 6pm we’ll be bringing you a fine, eclectic musical programme that more than matches the extensive liquid menu provided by North.

Socialise with good beer in your face and good tunes in your ears courtesy of DJs ED VECTOR, TOM KNAPP & NICK FRIZZELL…

So last night was the first ever beer fight in North, well the first official one anyway… We pitched two brilliant Itallian breweries against each other and got our punters to vote for their favourites.

It was a great night and we’d like to thank everyone who helped set it up from the breweries – Brewfist and Toccalmatto and their brilliant head brewers Pietro Pilato and Bruno Carilli, showing that Italian beer is going from strength to strength and is very much developing it’s own distinctive style and identity.

Also our great friends Zak Avery from Beer Paradise, Andreas Falt & Giulio Temporinof Atlas Brands and the guys at Delitalia who make sure the beers actually get in to the country in the first place and helped with the organisation of the event, also Tony from retro skullduggery who designed the ace posters and T shirts…

Incidentally we do have a few T’s left – there were only 20 ever made so they’re a bit special and we love them, if you want one be super quick and drop us a line- they’re only a tenner! 5 lucky punters won T’shirts on the night too they are;

Sophie Deacy, Adam Tuncay, Ian Garrett, Joseph Jones & Richie Lynnie – we’ll drop you guys a line!

So without further ado the winner… It was pretty damn close all in all but TOCCALMATTO get the bragging rights this time round pipping Brewfist by 6 votes. NICE… Cheers everybody!!
